Summer Semester 2026

Location: Gunnison Valley Health - Gunnison, CO

Hours: Minimum 100 hours (approx. 8-10 hours/week, flexible scheduling)

Compensation: Unpaid / Academic Credit Eligible (depending on institution requirements)

Key Learning Objectives

  • Understand the role of brand strategy in a nonprofit healthcare system
  • Gain experience in planning and executing outreach initiatives that improve public health awareness and education
  • Strengthen skills in communications, event planning, and community partnerships

Intern Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the GVH Director of Marketing & Communications, the intern will:

  • Assist in the development and distribution of branded materials (flyers, social media graphics, event signage, etc.)
  • Support planning, promotion, and presence at community outreach events (e.g. health fairs, wellness workshops, school visits)
  • Conduct outreach to local organizations, schools, and partners to promote GVH services and initiatives
  • Attend department meetings and contribute creative ideas for improving community connection and reinforcing brand experience
  • Optional: Develop a capstone presentation or project summarizing learning outcomes and impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in healthcare, events, branding and communication
  • Ability to work well independently and with groups
