Scope of Work/Job Characteristics
The Web Architect will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
" Translate business requirements into technical specifications, design comprehensive web applications and systems that meet Department needs;
" Analyze assigned specifications, plan, design, and develop solutions using appropriate
" Internet, Intranet, and Extranet architecture processes supporting a wide range of content individually or in concert with project team members;
" Provide appropriate documentation for object design decisions, estimating assumptions, applets, and performance metrics, as required by organization architecture process standards, or as assigned;
" Responsible for ensuring minimal issues between the client and the server applications and overall setup and design of the Internet and Web server architecture;
" Manage the execution of web projects, ensuring compliance with enterprise web architecture and system integration requirements;
" Coordinate with the Department's Information Security Team to establish security protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with department policy, state laws, and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements; and
" Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of architectural decisions, impact analysis, project progress, and system performance for future reference and audits.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
The Department requires the following experience, skills, and knowledge for this position:
" A minimum of five (5) years of IT work experience with demonstrated knowledge in architecture design, software development, database management systems and systems integration in multiplatform environments;
" Profound knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java and Structured Query Language [SQL]), cloud computing, and web development frameworks; and
" Demonstrated experience designing systems that integrate various applications and data sources to meet enterprise and business objectives.
NOTE: In addition to the above list, the selected Candidates must successfully complete a Level II Background Check.
4.2. Preferred Qualifications
The Department prefers the Candidate to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
" Possess relevant certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks, such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and cloud platforms, preferably Azure;
" Experience working in Dreamweaver, InDesign, or Visual Studio Code;
" Experience designing websites and Portable Document Format (PDF) files to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Level AA requirements;
" Understand the benefits of using a Content Management System; and
" Knowledge of IT standards in a criminal justice environment.
