Help

As a INTERNAL CONTROL ANALYST, GS-0501-11, you will:

  • Provide administrative oversight of the Quality Assurance (QA) Program
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to the Financial Manager (FM) and staff
  • Examine all areas to determine the effectiveness of procedures
  • Prepare monthly Discrepancy Tracking Report to management for review
  • Conduct various reviews to assess organizational performance
  • Report discrepancies to the Financial Manager for further research
  • Gather data, track discrepancies, and prepare trend charts
  • Maintain schedules of all reports, audits, inspections, and internal control reviews

Candidate must obtain FM 2 Certification within 2 years -- No record of conviction by civilian court for offenses involving larceny, robbery, wrongful appropriation, or burglary, or fraud -- Never received nonjudicial punishment under the UCMJ for offenses involving acts of larceny, wrongful appropriation, robbery, or burglary or fraud as delineated in UCMJ Articles 121, 122, 129, and 132 or never been convicted by military courts-martial for these same offenses.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year on-the job experience in the grade (GS-09) immediately below the grade for which are applying (GS-11) or equivalent as an Internal Control Analyst performing the following:

  • Financial administration program business
  • Applying programs principles and concepts
  • Analyzing information and crediting plan data

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience in the following:

  • Knowledge of financial principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of the basic principles and concepts of the Air National Guard financial business program requirements
  • Knowledge of a variety of instructions, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of planning, coordinating, and performing comprehensive reviews
  • Skill in performing administrative oversight of the Internal Control Analyst Program
  • Skill in examining the effectiveness of procedures
  • Skill in determining if supervisors are recording quality data
  • Skill in researching, developing, modifying, and maintaining qualitative standards
  • Ability to provide technical internal control advice on various financial matters (e.g. military pay, vendor and contract pay, and system administration)

Education

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for the National Guard GS-0501 Title 5 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed undergraduate or graduate education, the awarded college degree should be in one of -or- be a combination of the following disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, economics, math, statistics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
