Position Summary:

Join our library team as an Interlibrary Loan Specialist! This position offers a great benefits package, that includes tuition assistance for yourself and dependents. You will serve as the bridge connecting our campus community to a global network of information. In this public facing role you will support users as part of the Access Services and Building Operations team.

Supports day-to-day circulation activities at library service desks from Monday through Friday, including checking materials in and out, interpreting and enforcing Roesch Library policies, and providing technical assistance with printers, copiers, and computers. Shares in processing loanable materials, resolves patron problems, and assists with directional and technical inquiries. This role coordinates the worldwide borrowing and lending of physical and digital materials through the interlibrary loan (ILL) system, utilizing advanced research skills and initiative to locate and request materials not available locally or via the OhioLINK consortium. Responsibilities include evaluating and processing ILL requests, handling the digitization and transmission of electronic items, managing the packaging of physical materials, and responding to inquiries from borrowing libraries. Additionally, the position manages patron communications regarding ILL status, damaged items, and lost material billing, while compiling and analyzing statistics for internal improvement and outward reporting. The role facilitates training for other staff on ILL functions ,and assists in supervising and scheduling student employees, and requires the ability to function effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Possesses a strong commitment to customer service.

Basic knowledge of computers and scanners, proficiency required.

Basic knowledge of Google Apps and MS Office Suite.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently, and also within a team environment.

Strong organizational, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Two years of full-time work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Bachelor''s Degree.

Previous or current library working experience.

Experience with Alma, or other integrated library systems.

Experience with Tipasa (interlibrary loan) software.

Experience using library computer databases.

Knowledge of library operations, materials, services, policies, and procedures.

Ability to learn new software and advise on technology and process improvements.

Ability to communicate effectively, and exercise tact.

Ability to gather and maintain a variety of library records and statistics.

Proficient at establishing priorities, timelines and processes in order to meet deadlines. Knowledge of course management systems and the role they play.

Supervisory experience.

Demonstrated and successful experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
