Interior Design Specialist

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plans and implements interior design projects for healthcare facilities, including new construction, renovation, and space improvement initiatives.
  • Develops interior design solutions, floor plans, finish schedules, and furniture layouts to support patient care and operational needs.
  • Reviews architectural and engineering design submittals for compliance with VA standards, codes, and facility design criteria.
  • Prepares design specifications, cost estimates, and procurement documentation for furnishings, finishes, and interior construction elements.
  • Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or technical representative for furniture, furnishings, and interior design-related procurements.
  • Manages furniture and furnishings programs, including planning, acquisition, installation, and replacement activities.
  • Develops and maintains multi-year interior design and furniture replacement plans to support facility requirements.
  • Monitors project schedules, budgets, and resource requirements to ensure timely completion of interior design projects.
  • Coordinates with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and facility stakeholders throughout project planning and execution.
  • Evaluates and selects furniture, finishes, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with healthcare, safety, accessibility, and infection control requirements.
  • Develops and implements facility signage and wayfinding programs to improve navigation and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts site inspections and evaluates contractor performance to verify compliance with design specifications and project requirements.
  • Coordinates space planning, relocations, furniture moves, and activation activities associated with construction and renovation projects.
  • Maintains project records, drawings, specifications, budgets, and design documentation to support program management and project execution.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
