JOB TITLE: Interior Designer III - Interior Design

JOB SUMMARY: The Interior Designer-III is a highly experienced "licensed" Interior Designer/Architect responsible for the development of the project vision, its design, and all details/requirements for the production of a complete, accurate, and well-coordinated set of design documents. The Interior Designer-III will also be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating complex projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously in collaboration with the Senior Interior Designer(s), Project Manager(s), Director(s), and Principal(s) as applicable. The Interior Designer-III will have a passion for continuous improvement of Design solutions and project deliverables related to overall project design, performance, and technical innovation. It is essential the individual possess excellent listening and communication skills to foster cooperation with project team members as a representative of Cooper Carry and our clients. A strong sense of accountability and the ability to work with colleagues in various roles throughout the firm to ensure project success is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting in proposal/marketing eorts to define project scopes, goals, and win work
  • Established development of leadership skills and techniques to adequately guide, teach, mentor and lead a team of design sta to high quality design solutions, and detailed documentation eorts.
  • Advanced interior design skills to include drawing, rendering, and visual/presentation skills
  • Maintain and advance a detailed knowledge of materials and finishes, and assist in the selection of appropriate solutions for projects
  • Complete and participate in research initiatives, to further the Interior Design studio's knowledge and presence in the community
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Cooper Carry projects (past and present)
  • Advanced computer software skills, including 3D rendering capabilities, (Revit, Photoshop, sketch-up, word, excel, etc.)
  • Advanced sustainability requirements, and likely holding credentials in select initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement
  • Prepare and produce design and construction drawings
  • Directing and coordinating internal and external consultants as required to meet established project goals
  • Participating in QA/QC reviews to ensure the accuracy and completion of all project related tasks
  • Advanced understanding of building systems, codes, and construction methods
  • Represent the Interiors team at client presentations to understand client concepts/direction and accurately relay that to the design team
  • Establish and maintain eective client relationship for duration of project
  • Assist the Project Manager/Senior Interior Designer with establishing the project FF&E budget and program requirements
  • Contribute as required to support the success of the studio and firm
  • Collaborate with other Cooper Carry sta/studios as required to meet project
  • Adhere to both Cooper Carry and the Client guidelines and meet project design objectives, deadlines, and client requirements.
  • Actively participate in professional development both inside and outside the firm
  • Maintain professional license, and professional affiliations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program with Bachelor's or Master's level degree
  • Licensed designer holding an NCIDQ license/Architectural registration
  • Eight+ years' experience in a Commercial Design setting
  • Strong understanding of specific Interior Design market trends and influences
  • Advancing teaching abilities, and desire to train/mentor younger sta
  • Ability to work with no supervision and be a strong self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality design/construction drawings
  • Strong ability to make design and documentation decisions requiring discretion and good judgement
  • Creative and collaborative with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere
  • Advanced knowledge of required computer software; including knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
  • Education/Government experience preferable but not required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will directly supervise Interior Designers/Architects, with responsibilities directly involving subordinates such as mentoring, training, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance relative to established project requirements and budgets; rewarding and disciplining employees; and aiding in problem resolution as it relates to individual(s) and project(s) needs. All supervisory responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Reports to Principal(s), Director(s), Senior Interior Designer(s) and Project Manager(s).
