Interim Controller (Healthcare) – Contract Role
Location: Hybrid (1–2 days per week onsite)

About the Role
A rapidly growing healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support its accounting operations during a leadership transition. This role will partner closely with the CFO and oversee day?to?day accounting functions, month?end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate brings extensive healthcare accounting expertise and thrives in a fast?paced, multi?entity environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the full accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, treasury, and cost accounting functions.
  • Manage and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all financial statements.
  • Oversee monthly close processes and General Ledger operations.
  • Maintain and manage all banking relationships, including setup and maintenance of accounts across multiple entities and joint ventures.
  • Administer and manage accounting/reporting systems (ERP), including new entity setups and report writing.
  • Maintain internal close schedules and ensure deadlines are met for all internal teams and joint venture partners.
  • Coordinate annual audits and year?end reviews with external accounting firms.
  • Support financial analysis for new developments, acquisitions, and joint venture activity, including due diligence tasks.
  • Record acquisition transactions and manage accounting transitions for newly acquired operations.
  • Collaborate with the payroll provider to ensure accurate recording of payroll, benefits, and tax expenses.
  • Perform variance analysis for month?over?month, year?over?year, and budget?to?actual performance.
  • Review and validate revenue and accounts receivable for multiple healthcare facilities.
  • Contribute to annual budget planning and ensure department operations remain within budget parameters.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of 1099s, income tax, property tax, use tax, and unclaimed property returns.
  • Support CFO with special projects, reporting, and ad?hoc analysis as needed.
 
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Strong background in healthcare accounting
    • Experience working with a major ERP system
    • Demonstrated success in a Controller or senior?level accounting leadership role
  • Preferred:
    • Oracle ERP experience
    • Experience managing complex multi?entity or joint venture structures
