Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, this individual will be responsible for maintaining the school's vibrant brand presence through high-quality writing, digital content management, and dynamic visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a sharp eye for detail.

Core Responsibilities

  • Content Generation & Writing: Serve as the primary writer for the department, producing weekly news stories, engaging articles for the Kent Place magazine, and compelling copy for various digital platforms.
  • Website & Digital Presence: Maintain and update the main school website and Finalsite microsites (including the Ethics Institute, Girls' Leadership Institute, and Summer Camp), ensuring all content is timely, accurate, and SEO-friendly.
  • Publications & Newsletters: Project manage and assist in the creation of diverse print and online publications, including regular newsletters and community-wide communications.
  • Visual Media Management: Coordinate professional photography and videography schedules, storyboard authentic video content, and manage relationships with external creative vendors.
  • Editorial Oversight: Utilize and maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar to ensure consistent, strategic messaging across all communication channels.
  • Social Media & Analytics: Collaborate on social media strategy, create high-quality daily content, monitor community engagement, and regularly report on digital analytics.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field).
  • Experience: 4–6 years of progressive experience in communications or marketing, preferably within an independent school or higher education environment.
  • Strong Writing: Exceptional storytelling and copy-editing skills with a proven ability to adapt tone for various audiences and platforms.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tight deadlines, coordinate vendor schedules, and execute complex projects independently.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with CMS platforms (Finalsite preferred), social media management tools, and basic digital marketing strategies.

This is a full-time, temporary contract position spanning approximately six months (mid-August through mid-February). Occasional evening work for school event coverage is expected.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and two writing or digital content samples through our online application portal. Please submit all materials as one document.
