You will design, build, and manage the integration architecture that links our industrial and business platforms, including implementation of a Unified Namespace (UNS) using MQTT/Sparkplug B as the data transport layer with supporting middleware. Near-term, the focus is on getting data flowing cleanly between systems. Longer-term, this infrastructure becomes the foundation for Vulcan's data and AI capabilities. As Vulcan scales, this role has the potential to grow into a team leadership position for the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement integrations between Vulcan's business systems (NetSuite, Ramp, Gusto, Fiix) and operational systems (Ignition, MES)Work on team building and managing a Unified Namespace (UNS) architecture using MQTT/Sparkplug B as the data transport layerSelect, deploy, and maintain middleware solutions (e.g., Node-RED, custom API connectors) that enable reliable data movement across the organizationEnsure data flows are robust, monitored, and recoverable — minimizing manual intervention and data lossDocument integration architecture, data flows, and system dependenciesWork closely with the Business Systems Manager and system vendors to support integrations across ERP (NetSuite), CMMS (Fiix), MES, QMS, and Spend (Ramp) platformsParticipate in vendor discussions to assess and scope integration requirements for new and existing systemsWork with the OT environment as needed to ensure operational data is accessible across the organizationTroubleshoot integration failures and data quality issues across the stackContribute to Vulcan's longer-term data strategy, helping build a foundation that supports analytics and AI applicationsIdentify opportunities to automate manual data workflows and improve data accessibility across teamsSupport future data pipeline development as Vulcan's architecture evolves toward a centralized data storePartner with operations, engineering, and leadership to understand data needs and translate them into integration requirementsWork closely with operations, engineering, finance, and the Business Systems Manager to understand system dependencies and integration prioritiesTranslate business process requirements into technical integration designsSupport onboarding of new systems by evaluating integration requirements early in the procurement processResponsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the business.Qualifications5+ years of experience in systems integration, IT/OT engineering, or a related technical roleHands‑on experience integrating ERP, CMMS, MES, or Spend management platforms; NetSuite experience a strong plusFamiliarity with integration patterns and lightweight middleware tools (e.g., Node-RED, custom REST API connectors)Experience with or working knowledge of MQTT and industrial data protocols (Sparkplug B, OPC‑UA, or similar)Comfortable working across both IT and OT environments — willing to engage with industrial systems, not just business softwareStrong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and data modelingExperience designing, querying, and troubleshooting relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar); comfortable writing and debugging SQLAbility to work independently in a fast‑moving environment and manage multiple integration workstreams simultaneouslyMust be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export‑controlled information or facilities.Desired SkillsExperience with Ignition (Inductive Automation) or similar industrial SCADA/MES platformsFamiliarity with UNS architecture concepts and ISA‑95 or similar industrial data modelsExperience in a manufacturing, industrial, or operations‑heavy environmentFamiliarity with time‑series databases (e.g., InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) common in industrial and IoT environmentsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Strong diagnostic skills — able to trace data issues across systems and identify root causeThis position requires access to information and technology that is subject to US Export Control.
