Department: Enterprise Business Intelligence
Bonus Eligible: Yes (10% Target)
Salary range up to 130K and target 10% bonus. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Remote role - will be in MN for the first week for onboarding
Engagement is W2 only (no C2C or third-party submissions please)
About the Role
We are seeking a Manager, IT Interoperability Engineering to lead the interoperability function responsible for reliable order intake, modality integration, report delivery, and billing data exchange across EHR, RIS, PACS, and external referring systems. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, relationship managers, and development teams to deeply understand business strategy, services, and operational context, ensuring alignment between customer needs and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Product Management (40%)
Shape and execute interface strategy by aligning customer insights, business needs, and technology innovation
Collaborate cross-functionally to identify unmet interface needs and deliver scalable, forward-thinking solutions
Define priorities for new interfaces and enhancements based on customer requirements and business objectives
Drive Voice of Customer initiatives across the interface development lifecycle
Oversee incoming project pipeline and recommend optimizations to drive growth
Serve as the interface lead on cross-functional teams for new product development, ideation, and launch
Leadership & Team Management (30%)
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of developers and interoperability product managers
Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development
Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and continuous learning culture
Own the end-to-end interface development lifecycle, including project execution and delivery
Establish best practices, frameworks, and standards for interoperability solutions (e.g., HL7)
Drive Agile practices including sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and CI/CD
Ensure timely completion of projects, effective prioritization, and proper escalation management
Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable delivery plans
Interface Maintenance & Troubleshooting (25%)
Monitor IT Service Management systems (ServiceNow) and assign incidents and requests appropriately
Oversee daily interface operations, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
Ensure timely issue resolution in line with SLAs to minimize disruptions
Maintain detailed documentation for systems, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
Provide on-call leadership and support for critical issues and off-hours maintenance
Other Duties (5%)
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analysis, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of experience with Agile/iterative development or consumer-facing application development
5+ years of hands-on experience with interoperability tools (preferably Mirth Connect)
3+ years of engineering management experience with direct reports
Experience defining requirements and designing data-centric applications
Experience using Azure DevOps or similar work tracking tools
Familiarity with clinical, administrative, and healthcare data
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience with SQL and relational databases
Experience participating in software implementations
Additional experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools
