Job Description:

Now hiring: Insurance Change Specialist

Location: Lafayette, LA

Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour

Shift: 8 AM-5 PM | Monday-Friday

What we're looking for:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of insurance verification or authorization experience
  • DME or medical office experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment

What you'll do:

  • Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information, including co-pays when applicable
  • Verify insurance coverage and explain benefits, including deductibles and co-insurance
  • Obtain and track prior authorizations, including daily follow-up with payers as needed
  • Review medical documentation to support billing accuracy and coverage decisions
  • Resolve front-end collections accounts and document all activity in the system
  • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, physicians' offices, and internal teams in a professional manner
  • Handle inbound calls, emails, and faxes related to insurance and patient accounts
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow payer guidelines, compliance rules, and internal procedures
  • Understand and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and insurance determinations
  • Apply basic knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, CPT/ICD-10 codes, HIPAA, and medical terminology
  • Work within billing systems and maintain accurate records in patient databases
  • Meet productivity and accuracy standards while managing multiple tasks
  • Perform additional administrative duties and support special projects as assigned
