Responsible for the proper use and function of all departmentally owned instrumentation.

Major Duties

  • Trains instrument users.
  • Performs routine maintenance, calibration, and validation of instruments. Conducts troubleshooting and repair of failed instruments.
  • Purchases and controls inventory of liquified and compressed gases, supplies, and parts.
  • Participates in department and committee meetings and strategic planning.
  • Assists with data collection and analysis for research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
  • Some relevant experience.
  • Practical application experience with analytical instrumentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and financial management abilities.
  • Capable of adapting to various computer systems and software platforms.
  • Fundamental understanding of optical spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and chromatography techniques.
