SUMMARYProvides technical support to operations, maintenance, and capital project groups to ensure improvements in instrument reliability and to resolve repetitive instrument-related problemsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Plans and directs work, provides technical training, establishes goals and objectives and sets prioritiesLeads and coordinates engineering work assignments and workload using accepted engineering practicesCoordinates with instrument maintenance department and operations to plan and execute reliability objectives for the plantProvides support to Project Engineering on specification of instrumentation for capital projects. Reviews project design packages for proper design regarding reliability, application and maintenance requirements.Ensures proper documentation on all instrumentation equipment including equipment files, drawings, specifications, calibration sheets, manuals, etc.Works to improve reliability of process control valves. Develops plans for monitoring performance and addressing problem areas. Assists maintenance in development of repair/upgrade scopes for major turnaroundsAble to read instrument drawings, data sheets, I/O wiring diagrams, spec sheets, loop sheets, and P&IDs to ensure proper documentation on instrument related equipment files, calibration sheets, etc.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or higher degree in Electrical Engineering5 years of experience preferred in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical plant performing engineering design responsibilitiesShould be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office application softwareWorks well in a team environment, balances multiple projects, and has excellent communication skills to make effective technical presentationsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsPerforms duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site. Whenever appropriate, promptly reports Safety, Health or Environmental incidents or issues to management so the situation can be corrected. Attends Monthly Safety Meetings to help prevent off site and job accidentsSuccessful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
