Instructor or Assistant Professor of Finance Department Robert W. Plaster School of Business Location: Columbia, MO Type: Faculty Term: Tenure-Track, depending on the level of degree earned at the time of hire and amount of previous university-level teaching experience. Proposed Start Date: August 2026 Pay: $62,000-$72,000 annually, depending on prior teaching experience at the university level and the level of degree in the area of Finance that has been earned at time of hire.

Job Summary

The Business Administration Department in the Robert W. Plaster School of Business at Columbia College invites applications for two full-time faculty members at the Main Campus located in Columbia, Missouri, for the Fall 2026 academic year. Teaching Program, Coordination, Professional Development, and Service

Teaching responsibilities will primarily include undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance. Customarily, an Instructor or Assistant Professor teaches 24 academic hours per academic year, with 12 academic hours in both the Fall and Spring semesters.

Departmental service responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Program coordination • Curriculum development • Oversight of relevant course offerings in all Columbia College locations • Oversight over co-curricular activities related to Finance that are approved for launch • Playing a role in strategic planning • Participation in department meetings, faculty association committees, student advising, and other service activities such as academic assessment and curriculum development • College events may require occasional afternoon, evening, and/or weekend commitments

Professional Development

Professional development encompasses activities that demonstrate continued growth in the faculty members field, such as involvement in professional organizations, industry engagement, and scholarly or creative contributions.

Columbia College has nationwide locations and a strong online program. The successful candidate should be able to assist the department with curricular needs development and oversight in all teaching venues. Compliance with College policies and directions, including but not limited to keeping records, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours, and evaluating student performance, is required.

Qualifications

A Masters degree in the finance discipline or a related field is required, while a terminal degree in Finance is preferred. Current industry experience in an associated field or college teaching experience is required.

The ideal candidate will also have the following:

• Motivation to develop authentic relationships with students • Desire to work with the Dean and other faculty on executing a strategic plan for the Robert W. Plaster School of Business • Comfort with adapting to a changing higher education landscape • Experience providing effective student-centered teaching and classroom management strategies which enhance the success of diverse learners • Experience implementing innovative approaches to teaching and curriculum development in both traditional classrooms and distance education • Belief in the Robert W. Plaster School of Business Mission Statement
