Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines.

Classroom/Laboratory Management Manage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.

Curriculum Development Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance.

Resource Management Manage equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for instructional activities.

Student Assessment Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth.

Student Advising Advises students on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey.

Collaboration: Collaborate with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness.

Meeting Participation Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making.

Promotion and Recruitment Promote educational programs, participate in student recruitment efforts, and support initiatives to retain students.

Student Support Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience.

Industry Engagement Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth.

Evaluation and Professional Development Complete program evaluations, engage in continuous professional development, and stay current in the field.

Additional Duties Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.

Qualifications

Educational requirements:

  1. Associates degree or higher in any field OR

  2. High School diploma or equivalent with the plan of obtaining an Associate degree within three (3) years

Occupational Experience: Must have a minimum of four years of full time or equivalent (8,000 hours) experience as a licensed Nail Technician (Manicurist) or Manicurist or Cosmetology instructor. In addition, one of the following must be met:

  • At least two years of related work experience in the last five years OR

  • Two years of teaching Aesthetician or Cosmetology coursework at the post-secondary level within the last five years at an accredited school of Aesthetics or Cosmetology.

Licensure: Must have a valid State of Wisconsin Cosmetologist or Manicurist license. In addition, one of the following must be met:

  • Current State of Wisconsin Manicuring Instructor License Certificate or State of Wisconsin Cosmetology Instructor License Certificate OR
  • Proof of successful completion of a State of Wisconsin Cosmetologist or Manicuring Instructor course AND must obtain Manicuring or Cosmetology Instructor License Certificate within 12 months (1 year) of hire.

Standards of Teaching Excellence Understanding Students and Fostering Student Success, Classroom Management, Planning/Organization, Content Mastery and Currency, Teaching Methodology, and Assessment of Student Learning Professional Contributions Essential Technology Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook), Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system, and Computer - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google

Essential Supportive Technology Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:

  • Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters

  • Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems

  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology

  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Interview As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare a teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes, which may be conducted in-person or virtually.

Application Materials: Transcripts for all degrees earned from an accredited institution. Transcripts must show the degree awarded/conferred and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Additionally, candidates may be required to attach copies of licenses, transcripts or certifications. Its crucial to ensure all aspects of the application are thoroughly completed

Salary The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY/EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:

1- UMR High Level PPO

2- UMR Low Level PPO

Note: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.

DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.

Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.

GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employees behalf.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.

VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)

PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
