Job Responsibilities

Teach mathematics courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new courses and/or programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in college and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on college committees; promote institutional goals; assist department chair with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any of the campuses, by distance and/or traditional learning formats, and may be days, nights, weekends or a combination.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE - The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process. 35%

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials. 25%

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT - The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports. 10%

STUDENT ADVISEMENT - The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development. 20%

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - the participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position. 5%

COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES - Participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service. 5%

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Masters degree in mathematics, or a masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in teaching at secondary or post-secondary level and post-secondary academic advising experience. Teaching experience in statistics.

Additional Comments

The instructor should be open to the possibility of using alternate methods of delivery (online, synchronous, flex, etc.) in presenting course materials. The instructor may be asked to teach day, evening, or weekend classes at any of the Colleges locations. Professional conferences may require overnight travel. Professional, collegial and ethical conduct, decisions and relationships are expected at all times.
