Position Summary
NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

This is a full-time 50% teaching and 50% coaching position supervising an assistant coach and work-study students, volunteers, and team managers as assigned. The employee is responsible for teaching classes as assigned in one of the following disciplines: Business, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Sciences, Physical Education, Health Sciences, or another teaching discipline or closely related field that qualifies the individual to teach at the college level, and coaching and coordinating all activities of the mens basketball team. In addition, as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), this position reports to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith.
Salary: Salary level will be determined by the educational attainment and years of directly applicable experience according to Salary Schedule D-1. The salary range for nine months is $51,487-$94,363. Summer employment may be available (an additional amount of $15,904-$29,184), but is not guaranteed.

50% Head Coaching Duties:
Coaches all aspects of the mens basketball program, including weight training, conditioning, and practice in preparation for games; coaches the team during games and coordinates officials, scorekeepers, and announcers for home games.
Works effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
Assumes responsibility for preparing and maintaining athletic facilities.
Establishes an adequate system for handling equipment, which includes issuing, collecting, purchasing, and accounting.
Demonstrates proper sportsmanship and respect for players, opponents, fans, and other coaches.
Maintains positive relationships with all segments of the community, including the media, coaches, sales personnel, officials, and parents; serves as a positive role model.
Monitors athletes class attendance, grades, and personal conduct.
Applies discipline in a positive, firm, and consistent manner in accordance with policy.
Responds promptly to student athletes injuries with approved first aid techniques and reports injuries to administration in a timely manner and submits incident reports as warranted.
Adheres to and keeps abreast of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Alabama Community College Conference policies, regulations, and rules; stays abreast of the latest information on coaching; attends coaching clinics; attends mandatory ACCC meetings.
Makes adequate provisions for pregame and postgame details, including providing game results to the media and/or the Commission or other appropriate persons, immediately after the conclusion of each sporting event.
Maintains adequate records, including appropriate financial records and statistics.
Provides statistical reports to the Athletic Director, Dean of Students and Campus Services, and Alabama Community College Conference as needed and/or requested.
Schedule games with consideration for other campus and athletic department events.
Makes provisions for transportation, lodging, and meals for the team when necessary.
Maintains an active schedule to recruit prospective players; contacts high school coaches; attends high school tournaments; conducts tryouts; visits prospective players and parents; tours campus with prospective players and parents; assists out-of-town players to relocate here; aids in students enrollment; ensures player eligibility.
Independently fundraise for the mens basketball program to offset budget limitations.
Supervises direct reports, including managers, effectively; completes annual performance appraisals as required.
Assists the Athletic Director with issuing and collecting textbooks for mens basketball each semester.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and departmental information.
Adheres to all policies and procedures as set forth by the College.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
