Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor of Mathematics. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student learning, assessment, and the use of technology in the delivery of instructions. The teaching load for this position is 27 credit hours per nine-month period, teaching primarily the in-person general education math courses, including intermediate algebra, contemporary college mathematics, college algebra and probability and statistics.
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach courses as assigned based on program needs and individual expertise.
- Contribute to the curriculum development and instructional innovation in mathematics.
- Assess the instructional needs of students in the program and assist in developing and implementing plans to address those needs.
- Demonstrate successful outcomes in supporting and educating students from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate with members of the mathematics department to assess student performance and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and student learning.
- Participate, as appropriate, in School and University committees, planning initiatives, and accreditation site visits.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of a masters degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field with at least 18 credit hours in graduate-level mathematics coursework is required.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Doctoral degree in mathematics or a closely related field with at least 18 credit hours in graduate-level mathematics coursework.
- Preferred candidates will have teaching experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong desire to nurture students through the transition from high school to college.
