About the Position

The position will teach four undergraduate courses in the academic year, with two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester, lower and upper-level courses such as Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, each semester, and provide some service duties associated with the departments undergraduate degree. Teaching one course during the summer session may be required, depending on the level of other summer duties.

This is a state-funded, full-time, 12-month instructional, non-tenure-track faculty position. The position is renewable, contingent upon satisfactory performance.

Anticipated Start Date: Summer 2026

Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Teach four undergraduate courses with two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester, lower and upper-level courses such as Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, and
  • Teach one additional course in the summer term.

Coordinates courses

  • Mentors students and
  • Serves on departmental committees.

Additional Assignment Responsibilities

  • Manages the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of approximately 50 undergraduate Mathematics Learning Assistants (LAs)
  • Coordinates scheduling, facilitates weekly LA preparation meetings, and handles personnel management, mentoring, and disciplinary actions
  • Organizes and leads Summer Boot Camps and STEM Bridge programs, planning occurs during Spring, execution during Summer contract, and
  • Serves as the instructor of record for a Math LA Pedagogy Seminar or equivalent training course as needed.

Note: This additional assignment is an at-will appointment.

Required Qualifications

Masters degree in Mathematics or equivalent coursework, such as a Masters degree in Education with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics Experience teaching mathematics in a university setting Clear understanding of curriculum design, pedagogy, and learning outcome alignment Exceptional communication skills Genuine interest in nurturing the academic growth of students from diverse backgrounds

Additional Assignment has the following Required Education and Experience:

Masters degree in mathematical sciences, mathematics education, or a closely related field and Minimum of three years of mathematics teaching experience at the college or university level as the instructor of record.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in mathematics or expect to receive one by Summer 2026 Demonstrated experience and interest in inquiry-based learning, active learning, and/or other interactive classroom instructional models Demonstrated experience with course design and/or curriculum development Experience providing organized leadership in an educational or professional setting Extensive professional experience in industry Experience in group-based teaching methods Demonstrated strong pedagogical skill set and An interest in teaching Data Science, Actuarial Sciences, or Cryptography.

Additional Assignment has the following Preferred Education & Experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematical sciences, mathematics education, or a closely related field Five years of teaching experience at the college or university level as the instructor of record and Applicants who can demonstrate instructional leadership, particularly experience managing Learning Assistant (LA) programs or administering summer undergraduate programs, are encouraged to apply.
