Responsibilities

Serves as a school psychologist at the MDC, a clinical training and service facility within the CSW. Provides psychological services for children and youth, their families, and schools. Provides training and supervision for school psychology graduate trainees in the provision of psychological services for children and youth.

  • Provides direct psychological services to children and youth, presenting with complex academic, developmental, medical, emotional and behavioral problems, and to their families, teachers and school administrators. Services include evidence-based assessment, consultation, and counseling. May also assist in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of specialized service/research projects related to psychological services.
  • Provides training and supervision for school psychology graduate student trainees providing psychological services for children and youth referred to the MDC. Participates in trainee selection, trainee orientation, selection of training activities, and evaluation of expected competencies for trainees.
  • Interacts regularly with the professional, administrative and support staff, and graduate student trainees involved at the MDC, interacts frequently with clients, parents, teachers, school personnel, and representatives of state agencies who make referrals to the MDC, and with FSU faculty and professional staff with shared training and service interests.
  • Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures relevant to the operation of the MDC, in collaboration with the Center Director and professional staff within the parameters set forth by Florida Statutes, the Florida Department of Education, and the Florida State University administration.

Qualifications

Academic masters degree or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and licensure as a school psychologist by the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 490, Florida Statutes.
