Instructional Innovation Consultant

Job Goal: CESA 10 is seeking an Instructional Innovation Consultant to support improved student outcomes by serving as a connector across Educational Technology, Continuous School Improvement, and Special Education & Pupil Services. This position will help districts and CESA 10 staff integrate effective instructional practices, Universal Design for Learning, project-based learning, instructional technology, and responsible use of emerging tools to strengthen teaching, learning, accessibility, and continuous improvement.

Employment Status: This is an exempt, full-time, extended school-year (190 day minimum) position.

Position Qualifications:

Education, Training, Experience:

• Teacher certification or related educational licensure and a minimum of five years of successful experience in education.
• Experience with instructional coaching, peer coaching, professional learning, or district-level support.
• Knowledge of current curricular, instructional, and assessment practices in PK-12 education.
• Experience supporting inclusive instructional practices, Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, and/or specially designed instruction.
• Experience with project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, or other student-centered instructional models.
• Experience using instructional technology to support teaching, learning, accessibility, engagement, and student outcomes.
• Knowledge of emerging trends in educational technology, artificial intelligence, virtual learning, and digital tools.
• Experience collaborating across departments, programs, or service areas as preferred.

• Position may require attendance at regional, state, and agency meetings or conferences.
• Position may require flexible scheduling to support district professional learning, coaching, and project-based initiatives.

Performance Responsibilities:

Cross-Department Collaboration and Alignment

• Serve as a liaison and connector among Educational Technology, Continuous School Improvement, and Special Education & Pupil Services.
• Collaborate with CESA 10 staff to design integrated services that connect instructional improvement, student support, accessibility, and technology.
• Support internal teams in aligning resources, professional learning, coaching, and district-facing services.
• Gather feedback from staff and districts to refine support based on real-world needs and outcomes.

Student-Centered Instruction

• Promote UDL principles and inclusive practices to reduce barriers and increase access, engagement, collaboration, critical thinking, independence, and student ownership.
• Support educators in designing flexible learning environments, materials, assessments, accommodations, specially designed instruction, project-based learning experiences, performance tasks, rubrics, and structures for student voice and choice.
• Collaborate with Special Education & Pupil Services and Continuous School Improvement staff to ensure support reflects diverse learner needs and aligns with district goals.

Instructional Coaching and Professional Learning

• Provide coaching, consultation, and professional learning for educators, leaders, and teams to strengthen instructional practice and improve student outcomes.
• Support districts in connecting instructional strategies, technology integration, UDL, project-based learning, inclusive practices, and student-centered instruction to school improvement goals, learner needs, and student data.
• Help districts identify instructional barriers, pilot solutions, and gather evidence of impact.

Educational Technology, AI, and Innovation

• Lead and support the effective, ethical, and appropriate use of instructional technology, accessibility tools, AI, and emerging innovations in PK-12 education.
• Translate technology and AI concepts into practical, role-specific applications for teaching, learning, operations, accessibility, and service delivery.
• Promote responsible, secure, transparent, and student-centered use of technology consistent with organizational policies, student privacy, public-sector values, and applicable regulations.
