Testing Coordinator And Instructional Coach (TCIC)

The Testing Coordinator/Instructional Coach, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The TCIC will focus on individual and groupprofessional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about evidence-based effective instruction for teachers. In order to meet this purpose, the TCIC will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals, student assessment data, and identified needs of individual teachers.

Responsible to: Building Principal and Curriculum Coordinator

Payment Rate: According to Certified Teacher Salary Schedule

Employment Term: 9 Month

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Current Montana Teaching License.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Montana Content Standards and the Montana Comprehensive Assessment System
  • Experience in evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in: instructional strategies, conditions of learning, assessment driven instruction (teaching/learning process), curriculum development
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations
  • Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team.

General Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and demonstrate evidence-based instructional practices that result in improved student outcomes.
  • Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.
  • Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to support them in implementing good instructional practices.
  • Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.
  • Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data.
  • Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.
  • Assist teachers in creating pacing guides, unit plans, and unit assessments that are aligned with essential content standards in the curriculum.
  • Provide teachers resources related to instruction and curriculum.
  • Help in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
  • Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers.
  • Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers.
  • Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
  • Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.
  • Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics involving students in the classroom observed.
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments.
  • Assist building staff with the gathering, examination and analysis of formative and summative assessment data to identify learning concerns for individual students and groups of students.
  • Provides instructional support that is responsive to the identified needs of students and provides coaching support that is responsive to identified needs of staff.
  • Assist principals in monitoring and documenting instruction and assessment status and progress of new teachers and/or teachers with identified needs.
  • Serve as support for the school and classroom levels in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the Multi-Tiered System of Support.
  • Assure that students with disabilities are given appropriate testing instruments and accommodations.
  • Compile and deliver test data to teachers in a timely manner and ensure that scores are entered into the data management system (Infinite Campus).
  • Track student/teacher assessment data per unit, quarter, semester, and year and report data to administration in a timely manner.
  • Have the ability to lead the staff in improving student achievement levels
  • Coordinate with school counselors and local colleges for the administration of ACT, ASVAB, and any other entrance exams.
  • Keeps current on appropriate assessment methods and best practices with reference to test procedures.
  • Ability to work with the Montana Office of Public Instruction to follow assessment mandates.
  • Ability to organize and schedule District-wide assessment calendar.
  • Ability to organize and maintain district assessment data.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's evaluation policy.
