Primary Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, the Instructional Coach will provide research-based coaching that helps guide schools towards sustainable school improvement. The Instructional Coach will provide professional development services that include reflective collegial cycle of inquiry, data analysis, high functioning PLCs, and instructional leadership through alignment of curriculum and instruction to TEKS. Coaches will spend the majority of their time working in classrooms with teachers providing professional development that will include, but is not limited to, in class coaching, observing, modeling of instructional strategies, guiding teachers in assessing student work, and developing instructional plans with teams of teachers or as individuals.
The Instructional Coach advocates for, facilitates, and supports the work of the teacher but will not perform supervision or evaluation. The role of an Instructional Coach is separate and apart from the evaluative role of the principal or supervisor of the teacher. The Instructional Coach must have a strong knowledge and understanding of cognitive coaching, instructional techniques/strategies and must be ready to coach, model, and /or train all staff members, regardless of content area.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in educational administration or curriculum and instruction preferred
Valid Texas Teaching Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of current educational research in the use of technology to enhance instruction, learning styles, teaching techniques and student engagement.
Possesses fluency with multiple methods of instructional delivery and student assessment.
Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish preferred
Experience:
Three -five years of experience as a classroom teacher in CORE content area (relative to level for which you are applying)
Instructional or grade level leadership role
Experience supporting dual language programs
