Job Title: Instructional Coach

Salary Schedule: State Salary Schedule CHCCS Salary Page Reports To: School Principal Salary Grade: Instructional Support Work Location: FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: 10 Month Position Summary

The goal of the Instructional Coach is to provide coaching support and consultation in the development, implementation, and reflection of rigorous standards-based classroom instruction in order to promote success for all students.

Essential Duties:

  • Coach teams regarding the implementation of content integration
  • Coach teams regarding the use of backward planning
  • Coach teams regarding methods for holding students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement, how to create classroom environments conducive to collaboration and individual learning, how to establish a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport
  • Coach teams regarding lesson planning, implementing intervention, grading, small group, and individual instruction that personalizes and tailors instruction to individual needs, monitoring and analyzing student assessment data, the use of data to inform instruction, and communicating with students as it relates to tracking their data
  • Solicit and receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills
  • Work collaboratively with teams to design learning both at home and at school
  • Coach teams to ensure alignment of instructional vision and delivery in order to maximize positive student learning outcomes
  • Model instructional strategies to aid team development
  • Provide feedback, developmental advice, and support to develop team effectiveness
  • Build a collaborative partnership with the principal and administrative team
  • Contribute to school and district professional development
  • Develop and lead professional development for school-based teams
  • Participate in professional development to refine own practice
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters degree in Elementary Education, Literacy, or Curriculum & Instruction preferred
  • Bachelors in Education required
  • Holds a valid NC Teaching License
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of K-5 curriculum
  • Previous experience as a PLC leader, mentor, or other leadership role
  • Evidence of understanding of characteristics of adult learners
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
