Under direction of and providing support to faculty by preparing labs organizing suppliesequipment observing and documenting student performance and testing and in some courses assisting with the care of veterinary clinic animals.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare laboratory environments for instruction by assembling necessary materials equipment and supplies.Assist faculty with demonstrations student observation and evaluation of essential skills performance.Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities including student progress toward instructional goals.Reinforce knowledge and skills introduced by course faculty through guided practice and support.Handle animals for instructional use in applicable courses.Monitor the health and well-being of animals in applicable courses.Feed clean and provide basic care for animals in applicable courses.Clean and maintain instructional laboratory equipment.Assist with post-lab cleanup and resetting of laboratory spaces.Support faculty with administrative tasks such as photocopying stapling hole-punching and organizing materials or supplies.Perform other duties as assigned.Department SpecificKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesIndividuals must possess the following knowledge skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities. Mainly standing and walking during labs. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers handle or feel objects tools or controls reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write read written materials and computer screens and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Must be able to kneel stoop crawl and crouch. Physical movements may involve lifting objects up to 40lbs. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodationMinimum RequirementsCurrent Oregon License as a Veterinarian or Certified Veterinary Technician by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board by the time of hire.Veterinary Technician applicants must have an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology or Veterinary Technician from an accredited institution have passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam VTNE and be a credentialed Veterinary Technician.Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a licensed Veterinarian or Certified Veterinary Technician with the handling and management of animals.Equivalency StatementThe College recognizes the value of skills and knowledge gained outside of formal higher education and paid employment.
