Amazons Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) - Inventory Management business is transforming the grocery shopping experience through innovative retail formats. We are seeking an Instock Manager to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring customers find the products they want, when they want them. This role focuses on managing inventory availability and health across our grocery stores and fulfillment centers, partnering with vendors and internal teams to optimize the customer experience.

Amazons grocery business has experienced remarkable growth, with groceries becoming some of our most frequently purchased items alongside everyday essentials like paper towels and household products. Weve expanded same-day delivery for fresh groceries to over 2,300 U.S. cities, with perishable items like fruits and vegetables leading customer demand.

As an Instock Manager, you will be responsible for tactical execution of inventory strategies, working within defined frameworks to improve in-stock rates and reduce waste. You will analyze data to identify opportunities, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive operational improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to build foundational skills in inventory management while making a direct impact on customer satisfaction.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage inventory availability and health metrics to improve in-stock rates and optimize inventory planning.
  • Perform business analysis to identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Track purchase orders, investigate delivery delays, and resolve order issues with vendors and suppliers.
  • Partner with internal teams on purchasing workflows, tools, and process improvements.
  • Manage day-to-day operational relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent product availability.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of inventory issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support forecasting activities by monitoring trends and providing input on demand patterns.
  • Collaborate with category teams to understand product assortment and seasonal needs.
  • Create reports and dashboards to communicate inventory performance to stakeholders.
  • Escalate roadblocks and risks appropriately while learning best practices in supply chain management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to fulfillment centers, stores, and vendor locations.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
