Position Title: Institutional Research Specialist Position Description: The Institutional Research Specialist will assist the Director of Institutional Research with the collection of institutional data. The position will also create or extend reporting and software solutions utilizing data from the institution’s ERP system using Transact-SQL, object-oriented programming, and a server-based reporting software, and will also be responsible for the design, development and administration of custom software application databases. Reports To: Director of Institutional Research Position Status: Full-Time, 37.5 hrs/wk, 12 Month, 1950 Annual Hours, Flexible/Alternative Schedule, distribution of hours, days and months based on institutional need. Classification/Points: I, 1065 Bargaining Unit/Division: Michigan Education Association, Educational Support Personnel Position Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Develop custom software solutions by conducting all phases of analysis, design, configuration, testing, deployment and documentation, under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research.
- Maintain and test customized programs and reports with new vendor software releases.
- Assist end users by clarifying report requirements and develop ad-hoc or reusable reports using reporting tools.
- Proactively identify inefficiencies across departments that may benefit from programming or automation, and discuss with supervisor to design and provide solutions.
- Develop and maintain integrations to securely share data between custom software, third-party software, outside agencies and the ERP/SIS.
- Write and update technical documentation and user manuals.
- Assist the Director of Institutional Research by collecting and auditing data to support planning, assessment and decision making for the end-user community and for mandated reporting.
- Support the Office of Information Technology needs as directed by the Director of Institutional Research.
- Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
