PGS Worldwide is seeking an Inspector for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Inspector will perform first article and production quality inspections on newly developed or modified manufacturing processes. This role ensures high-reliability aerospace and defense components comply with engineering drawings, design specifications, electrical requirements, and applicable manufacturing standards.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or a related technical field within the aerospace or defense industry.
- Experience performing First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 or relevant industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Hands-on experience using precision measurement instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Experience using electrical test equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with First Article Inspection reporting and quality management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to document and communicate technical discrepancies effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
- Associate degree in a technical field or relevant military training.
- Experience inspecting Line Replaceable Units and complex electronic systems.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning or Manufacturing Execution Systems for documentation.
- Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action processes.
What You’ll Do
- Perform detailed first article inspections to verify that manufacturing processes meet design intent.
- Inspect circuit card assemblies for solder quality, component placement, and electrical integrity.
- Inspect cables and wire harnesses for continuity, insulation, routing, and workmanship.
- Evaluate electronic assemblies, cabinets, mechanical structures, and Line Replaceable Units for dimensional, visual, electrical, and functional compliance.
- Review technical documentation, material certifications, and manufacturing records.
- Identify and document discrepancies and non-conforming material.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams on corrective actions and root cause investigations.
- Participate in process audits and manufacturing process validation activities.
