Job Title: Inspector A

Martin‑Baker America's Inspector A is responsible for inspecting in‑house and supplier‑produced machined parts, fabricated sheet‑metal components, and controlled inspection/production tooling. This role ensures all manufactured items meet applicable drawings, standards, and specifications, and completes all required inspection documentation and reports.
Responsibilities
In this role, you perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on a wide range of machined parts, sheet‑metal fabrications, and related tooling to verify full compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, standards, work instructions, and purchase order requirements. You conduct various functional tests-including surface‑finish evaluation, hardness testing, and conductivity measurement-based on product requirements.
You are responsible for obtaining and interpreting all necessary inspection data and selecting the appropriate inspection equipment, such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, sine plates, hardness testers, conductivity meters, and coating‑thickness meters. You develop surface‑plate layouts, gauging setups, and inspection techniques to ensure accurate results.
Your duties include preparing and completing inspection documentation, including First Article Reports, First Piece Reports, and Nonconforming Material Reports, in the applicable computer systems. You also perform periodic inspections on inspection/production tooling-such as jigs, fixtures, and templates-and maintain accurate records. Throughout all activities, you adhere to company procedures, work instructions, and safety policies.
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of inspection or similar experience (an engineering degree may substitute for up to 3 years of the required experience).
Desired Skills
• Proficient in specialized inspection tools, including CMMs, optical comparators, hardness testers, profilometers, conductivity meters, and coating‑thickness meters.
• Skilled in standard precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, dial indicators, and height gages.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and apply general shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Basic understanding of common manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
• Competent with basic computer applications and digital documentation systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate and clear report preparation and timely response to engineering or management inquiries.
• Ability to work independently, manage daily workload efficiently, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills with peers, supervisors, and managers.
• Ability to provide guidance and technical support within areas of expertise.
