Inspection Supervisor - Aerospace - Manufacturing

Job Summary

East/West is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Inspection Supervisor to join our team. The Inspection Supervisor manages a team of inspectors to ensure products and materials comply with quality standards and engineering requirements. They oversee daily operations within the Inspection department, train staff, maintain safety, and report to management. The Inspection Supervisor must coordinate with all departments to keep product flow, resolve quality issues, and meet customer requirements. Works closely with inspectors regarding daily work distribution. Acts as a department liaison to other departments and must have knowledge of all current as well as future programs.

Essential Functions

• Ownership of planning inspection functions; assigns inspection tasks as required.
• Regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
• Supports Quality Engineering to create/establish best inspection practices and inspection checklists.
• Trains and assesses inspectors including conducting 90-day and annual performance reviews.
• Supervises inspection techniques and reviews products being inspected within the inspection department.
• Manages and/or supports the timely calibration of measuring, gauging, and test equipment.
• Works with Planning dept. to prioritize inspections and meet delivery requirements.
• Works with Sourcing dept. to identify opportunities for supplier improvement.
• Determines the staffing needs of the department.
• Interviews applicants for inspection positions.
• Provides input on hiring/terminating employees.
• Handles employee complaints, grievances, and discipline in accordance with company policy.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

Qualifications/Minimum requirements

• Associate's degree in a related field, undergraduate degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Quality Supervisory role.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Mechanical Inspection experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Familiar with ISO9000, AS9100, and/or other Quality Standards.
• Experience documenting first piece and first article inspection results, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with AS9102.
• Experience setting up and running automated inspection equipment such as Vision Systems (e.g. OGP) and Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).
• Proficiency with standard testing tools, micrometers, protractors, calipers, height gages, and optical comparators
• Capable of reading and interpreting complex drawings and blueprints using GD&T.
• Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management.
• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English proficiently.
• Ability to pass yearly vision tests for color and acuity, if required.
• Ability to stand, bend, and move to inspect at appropriate angles.
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
