Title: Inpatient Pharmacist Manager

Location: Glenwood Springs, CO
Position Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)
Flexibility required for evenings, nights, and weekends as needed


Job Overview

A leading healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist Manager to oversee pharmacy operations, ensuring medication safety, regulatory compliance, staffing efficiency, and high-quality clinical pharmacy services.


Key Responsibilities

Medication Management & Compliance

  • Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy in accordance with established policies
  • Develop and enforce medication-use policies and procedures
  • Maintain an approved formulary in collaboration with medical staff
  • Oversee medication storage, preparation, and inventory integrity
  • Manage procurement of medications, chemicals, and biologicals
  • Maintain accountability for medication distribution and floor stock
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled substances
  • Maintain staff competency records and licensure documentation
  • Perform staff pharmacist duties when required

Department Operations

  • Supervise and lead pharmacy personnel
  • Develop job descriptions, performance standards, and evaluations
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and performance feedback
  • Create and manage staff schedules and workload distribution
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
  • Support ongoing education and training for pharmacy staff
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and all applicable regulations

Strategic & Organizational Duties

  • Support pharmacy strategic planning aligned with organizational goals
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance pharmacy services
  • Maintain and improve pharmacy quality assurance programs
  • Participate in committees and organizational initiatives

Professional Requirements

  • Maintain active pharmacy licensure
  • Attend leadership and management meetings

Required Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Experience with EPIC system (required)
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • PharmD degree required
  • Active Colorado Pharmacy License in good standing

Experience & Skills

  • Proven leadership in pharmacy operations and clinical services
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards
  • Excellent clinical judgment
  • Effective communication and teaching skills

Certifications

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
