Job title: Injection Molding and 3D Printing Technician
Job Location: Durham NC 27713
Job Duration: 12 months contract
Pay Rate- 26/hr. on W2
Shift : Training will be conducted on a 8 AM to 5 PM schedule. This will continue as long as their training period lasts. Once they have been fully trained, this role will shift to a 10 AM to 7 PM schedule.
 
Job Description
 
Injection Molding

  • Operate injection molding machines, including start-up and shutdown
  • Load molding programs and run pre-developed processes
  • Make minor adjustments to ensure part quality and resolve defects
  • Document process settings in Microsoft Excel
  • Monitor and sort molded parts based on quality
  • Trim and post-process molded parts (sanding, deburring, gluing, assembly)
  • Bag, label, pack, and ship molded parts
  • Handle and organize raw materials
  • Operate dryers and dry materials as per specifications
  • Test material moisture content using moisture analyzer
  • Operate gantry cranes and perform mold changeovers
  • Collaborate with tooling specialists and machinists
 
3D Printing
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot 3D print builds
  • Set up machines, remove prints, and perform maintenance
  • Perform post-processing (cleaning, sand blasting, polishing, painting)
  • Clean and finish models as per standard procedures
  • Operate distillation equipment for solvent reuse and disposal
  • Support engineers with technical tasks
  • Prepare parts for shipment with proper packaging and labels
 
General
  • Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs
  • View model files using CAD software
  • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Wear required safety equipment
  • Maintain and replenish lab supplies
  • Perform other assigned duties
 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • Experience with injection molding, plastics, or machine operation preferred
  • Mechanical understanding (fitment, force, pressure, fluid flow) preferred
  • Hands-on problem-solving experience preferred
  • Experience with model finishing preferred
  • Experience with 3D printing (SLA, DLS, DLP, PolyJet, FFF) is a plus
  • CAD software experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work in team and individually
  • Positive attitude and adaptability
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
