Position Title: Initiative Clerk (Election Services Intern)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona (On-Site)

Schedule: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week), including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Job Summary
We are seeking students and recent graduates interested in public service to participate in the Initiative Internship Program. The Initiative Clerk will support the review and validation of initiative petition sheets for the 2026 election cycle while gaining hands-on exposure to election administration and government operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process initiative petition sheets in accordance with Arizona statutes and election regulations.
- Verify petition documentation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Conduct research related to election laws, policies, and initiative procedures.
- Assist with administrative and clerical tasks within the Elections Division.
- Participate in training sessions covering election administration and government processes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the initiative review process.
- Work collaboratively with team members while maintaining objectivity and nonpartisanship.
- Adapt to changing procedures and responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (current students and recent graduates eligible).
- Basic knowledge of government, public administration, public policy, or law.
- Knowledge of office professionalism and workplace etiquette.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain objective and nonpartisan while supporting election-related activities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework in Public Policy, Public Administration, Government, Political Science, or Law.
- Demonstrated interest in public service, government, or civic engagement.
- Previous internship, volunteer, or academic experience related to public administration or elections.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be enrolled in or graduated from a university, community college, technical school, or be a qualifying high school student.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be available to work full-time throughout the internship period.
- Must be local to the Phoenix, AZ area and available for in-person interviews.
