Responsibilities:
• Build infrastructure capable of managing metadata for hundreds of billions of files, handling hundreds of petabytes of user data, and facilitating millions of concurrent connections. • Lead the expansion of Dropboxs function as the data-fabric connecting hundreds of millions of applications, devices, and services globally, while also driving initiatives to enhance interoperability and adaptability across diverse ecosystems. • Measure and optimize Dropboxs analytics platform to maintain its status as one of the most advanced in the industry for extracting meaningful insights from vast data volumes. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and implement solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and security of Dropboxs infrastructure, ensuring a seamless experience for users worldwide. • Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the infrastructure engineering team. • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance Dropboxs infrastructure and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.
Requirements:
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) or equivalent technical experience. • 2 years of professional software development experience. • Proven track record of constructing and managing expansive multi-threaded, geographically dispersed backend systems. • Proficient in programming and debugging across a range of languages, such as Python, Go, C++, or Java. • Proficiency with operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers. • Proven track record of defining and delivering well-scoped milestones and projects. • Ability to independently define right solutions for ambiguous, open-ended problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with Semaphores and Mutexes.

Through our assessment process, we will identify your level that ties to compensation based on your experience and technical expertise, along with the scope of the role. If you are assessed at the IC2 level, below are the current SalaryOTE ranges:
Subject to change: • US Zone 1: $168,300 - $198,000 - $227,700. • US Zone 2: $151,500 - $178,200 - $204,900. • US Zone 3: $134,600 - $158,400 - $182,200.
If you are assessed at the IC3 level, below are the current SalaryOTE ranges:
Subject to change: • US Zone 1: $204,000 - $216,000 - $276,000. • US Zone 2: $183,600 - $216,000 - $248,400. • US Zone 3: $163,200 - $192,000 - $220,800.
