Seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Systems Engineer to support and enhance a hybrid technology environment spanning Microsoft Azure and HPE-based on-premises infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure while driving automation, operational improvements, and cloud adoption initiatives.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing enterprise data center technologies, VMware virtualization, and Azure cloud services while taking ownership of infrastructure performance, availability, and modernization.

Primary Responsibilities

Enterprise Infrastructure & Data Center Administration

  • Maintain and support enterprise server infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
  • Oversee VMware vSphere/vCenter environments, including ESXi hosts, virtual machine deployment, cluster administration, DRS/HA configuration, licensing, and overall resource optimization.
  • Perform capacity planning, hardware lifecycle management, firmware updates, and proactive system health monitoring.
  • Administer enterprise SAN and NAS storage platforms, including LUN creation, storage allocation, performance optimization, and capacity forecasting.
  • Support core data center networking functions, including VLAN administration, switching, and connectivity with routing and firewall infrastructure.
  • Develop, document, and execute disaster recovery and business continuity procedures, including scheduled failover testing and validation of recovery objectives.

Azure Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure

  • Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity services, and platform resources.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize Azure spending through resource right-sizing, reserved capacity planning, licensing optimization, and governance standards.
  • Build Infrastructure as Code solutions utilizing Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep for repeatable infrastructure deployments.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

HPE Infrastructure Administration

  • Manage HPE ProLiant, Synergy, and BladeSystem server environments, including server provisioning, BIOS updates, firmware maintenance, iLO administration, and hardware monitoring.
  • Utilize HPE OneView to manage server profiles, firmware baselines, infrastructure templates, and composable infrastructure resources.
  • Configure and maintain Virtual Connect modules, chassis infrastructure, and enclosure management.
  • Support HPE 3PAR, Nimble Storage, and similar storage technologies, including replication, snapshots, provisioning, cloning, performance optimization, and capacity management.
  • Maintain data center networking components supporting HPE infrastructure, including segmentation and VLAN configuration.
  • Leverage HPE InfoSight, CloudPhysics, or comparable AI-driven monitoring platforms for predictive analytics and infrastructure optimization.
  • Coordinate directly with HPE support organizations for hardware maintenance, replacement activities, and warranty support.

Infrastructure Operations, Automation & Security

  • Monitor enterprise infrastructure using centralized monitoring platforms and proactively resolve system issues through root cause analysis.
  • Automate administrative tasks such as provisioning, patch management, compliance reporting, and remediation using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, or Ansible.
  • Implement and maintain enterprise security standards, including encryption, vulnerability remediation, firewall administration, audit logging, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administer foundational infrastructure services including:
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • Certificate Services
    • File & Print Services
    • Backup and Replication
    • Endpoint Configuration Management
  • Ensure backup and recovery solutions are regularly tested and documented for both cloud and on-premises environments.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with security, software development, and infrastructure teams to deliver resilient hybrid technology solutions.
  • Act as a senior escalation resource for complex infrastructure incidents.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning, technology roadmaps, and initiatives focused on reducing technical debt and improving operational efficiency.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows when required.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud platforms.
  • Strong VMware administration experience, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, DRS, HA, vSAN, resource pools, and licensing management.
