Job Description:

District IT Systems and Operations Manager

Full-Time District

Starting August 3, 2026

JOB GOAL:

To provide leadership and strategic oversight of the district's technology department. The District IT Coordinator works in collaboration with the district's IT staff to ensure that the computer, network, and data infrastructure directly support the educational mission and strategic goals of the East Granby Public Schools.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools or Designee

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Management

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a multi-year IT Strategic Plan that aligns with the District's Strategic Plan to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Budgetary Oversight: In consultation with the Superintendent and Business Manager, collaborates with IT staff and building leadership to develop and manage annual IT capital and operating budgets.
  • Personnel Management: Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluations for IT staff, including database/web support and hardware technicians.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with building-level and district-level leadership to ensure technology initiatives support the educational mission of the schools.

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Infrastructure Design: Oversee the design, enhancement, and maintenance of the district's network, printer, telephone, and server ecosystems.
  • Security & Compliance: Maintain robust Internet access, firewall systems, and content monitoring/filtering. Manage district-wide cybersecurity protocols, including threat detection (virus, spam, phishing, and malware).
  • Data Integrity: Design and oversee a comprehensive backup and disaster recovery system for all district servers and cloud environments.
  • Cloud & Storage: Manage cloud-based productivity suites (e.g., Google Workspace) and ensure reliable file storage for all users.
  • Physical Security: Manage and maintain the functionality of the district's surveillance camera systems.
  • Supports the day-to-day operations and functions within a small collaborative team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT CERTIFICATIONS ENCOURAGED:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience and technical certifications.
  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in IT systems and network administration, with preferred experience in a leadership, supervisory, or project management capacity within an educational or enterprise environment.
  • Network & Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining enterprise-grade networking equipment (such as Aruba, Cisco, or similar) and managing robust, secure network architectures.
  • Systems & Cloud Management: Proven proficiency in managing hybrid infrastructure, including on-premise servers and modern cloud-based productivity suites (e.g., Google Workspace).
  • Security & Compliance: Strong foundational knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, data privacy regulations, and threat mitigation strategies.
  • Desirable Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are highly encouraged and valued as evidence of current technical proficiency (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Professionals, Google Workspace Administrator, or equivalent).
