The Technology Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for the governance, performance, and integrity of the company’s financial systems, data, and analytics. This role partners closely with Accounting, Payroll, IT, and Operations to ensure technology and data enable accurate financial reporting, compliant payroll processing, strong internal controls, and efficient project execution in a commercial construction environment.
This position also leads a small analytics team and drives reporting, automation, and data-driven insights across Finance. This role sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and analytics, driving accuracy, efficiency, and insight across the organization. It is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys improving systems, leading people, and using data to strengthen controls and support growth.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
- Serve as the Finance owner of ERP, payroll, and financial reporting systems
- Ensure system configurations support GAAP reporting, WIP, revenue recognition, job cost controls, and payroll accuracy
- Lead technology and analytics budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management
- Oversee system implementations, upgrades, and integrations in partnership with IT
- Lead and develop a team of two Data Analysts supporting Accounting and Payroll
- Oversee financial and payroll reporting processes, dashboards, and automation using Power BI, Excel, Power Query, and SQL
- Establish data standards, validation controls, and documentation to ensure data integrity
- Design and maintain system-based internal controls, audit trails, and segregation of duties
- Support internal and external audits related to financial systems, payroll data, and IT controls
- Partner cross-functionally to improve processes, reporting, and decision support through technology and analytics
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- 8+ years of experience in accounting, financial systems, or analytics leadership
- Experience in commercial construction or project-based environments strongly preferred
- Prior experience leading or mentoring analytical or technical staff
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job cost, WIP, revenue recognition, and payroll
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including data modeling and automation
- Hands-on experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboards)
- Experience using Power Query for data transformation and automation
- Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and validation
- Knowledge of internal controls, IT general controls (ITGCs), and audit support
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner across Finance, IT, Payroll, and Operations
