The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Technology Services Division is an internal support division that provides application development, quality assurance and technical operations (network and desktop) services to all other Department of Revenue divisions in meeting their goals and objectives of providing services to the State of Montana and its citizens.

DUTIES
Job Overview:
This position resides in the Technology Services Division (TSD) of Department of Revenue. The Information Protection Specialist is responsible for helping to ensure that the appropriate operational information protection posture is maintained for each of the department's information systems. Duties include developing and implementing Information Protection (IP) policy and procedure; coordinating the identification, implementation, and assessment of the common information protection controls which includes ensuring employees are provisioned the necessary access to effectively execute their duties; evaluate and recommends measures for department operations to maintain required levels of information protection; review information systems security procedures; provide system documentation and user support to ensure the continuity and compliance of department business operations; evaluates real or suspected events within the agency; develops agency policies, standards, and procedures for evaluating and referring the investigation to other qualified entities, including law enforcement and; providing resolution recommendations. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Protection Officer (IPO) and does not supervise other staff.

Working Conditions
REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor''s approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.
Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
