JOB SUMMARY
 
Responsible for addressing the information needs of patient families, physicians and staff while creating an atmosphere of care, concern, warmth and compassion. Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly waiting area.
 
Reports To:   Pre-Op Manager & CNO
Classification:  Non-Exempt
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
High School diploma or GED required.   Two years’ customer service or receptionist experience in a medical facility preferred. Strong interpersonal communication skills; able to speak effectively to internal and external customers as required.  English language required. Position requires attendance as early as 5:30 am daily.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1.     Direct patient visitors as directed by the physician and nursing staff.( i.e. apply physician preferences)
2.     Coordinate patient family flow to facilitate surgeon/family consultations.  
3.     Promote patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy practices during front desk operations.
4.     Processes phone calls in efficient manner. 
5.     Communicates with patients and family in a professional and courteous manner.  Keeps families informed of patient status as needed.  Compassionate, caring communications. 
6.     Assists others with various tasks when needed.
  1. Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.        
  2. Anticipates visitor/family’s needs.
  3. Coordinates work station coverage. 
  4. Assists in maintaining lobby area clean, well-organized and neat as needed. 
  5. Monitors content on televisions and addresses as necessary. 
  6. Suggests changes in procedures as necessary to improve service
  7. Regularly attends unit meetings.
