Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Infection Disease RN to join the team!

Job Summary The Infection Preventionist is responsible for coordinating programs to protect and improve the health and wellness of employees, patients and community members. This role ensures compliance with evidence-based practices, regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Infection Prevention Program Management

Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based infection prevention practices and hospital policies. Implement isolation precautions and educate staff and providers on infectious disease management. Conduct annual infection prevention risk assessments and develop the Infection Prevention Plan. Coordinate quarterly Infection Prevention Committee meetings, prepare agendas, and present findings.

Surveillance and Reporting

Collect, analyze, and trend infection data; submit required reports to NHSN and other regulatory bodies. Investigate healthcare-associated infections, complaints, and bloodborne pathogen exposures. Communicate with public health agencies and providers regarding reportable diseases.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Improvement

Participate in regulatory surveys and ensure compliance with APIC, OSHA, CDC, CMS, DNV standards. Collaborate with department managers to develop infection control indicators for quality improvement. Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives with Pharmacy and Laboratory leadership.

Environmental and Facility Safety

Conduct environmental rounds and assist with Infection Control Risk Assessments for construction projects. Work with Facilities and Safety Committees to implement corrective actions and maintain safe environments.

Serves as support for Employee Health on an ongoing basis

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities Implement and monitor efficient tactics to carry out the core responsibilities of the position. Ensures compliance with applicable standards of care, regulatory requirements, conditions of participation, etc. for department functions; develops department policies and procedures. Monitors performance to goals, plans and requirements through regular reporting mechanisms; assesses performance and adjusts plans as needed to achieve goals. Provide appropriate communication of the procedural standards to all employees, conduct orientation and training programs Screen new employees for infection preventable vaccinations as per CDC, OSHA or State requirements. Track information regarding employee injuries and health issues. Coordinate employee wellness activities such as flu shots, lab tests, etc. Work closely with public health to alert staff to public health issues and coordinate efforts in a public health emergency. Track information regarding infectious disease issues, including healthcare associated infections, etc. Coordinates and chairs the Infectious Diseases Committee. Perform regular surveillance / audits of ICP procedures.

Schedule Monday through Friday, day shift hours, with occasional evenings or Saturdays for special education programming events or educational instructions.

Educational Requirements

Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willingness to obtain certification within 1 year of hire. Prior clinical experience preferred; Infection Prevention experience strongly preferred. Strong analytical, communication & organizational skills. BLS required; must be willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Experience A minimum of 3 years experience as an RN is required. Prior experience with infection prevention, employee health is strongly preferred

Knowledge Skills Abilities Ability to demonstrate competency performing all essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Computer skills required. Knowledge of electronic health record is required.
