Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled Infection Preventionist to join our quality team. In this role you will plan, organize, develop, and implement our infection prevention and control program in accordance to current applicable federal, state, and local standards. What you will do in this role:

  • As an infection Preventionist you will assume shared responsibility for the management of surveillance, prevention, and control of infections hospital wide.
  • To ensure that staff are educated on optimal infection prevention and control practices, you will regularly collaborate and communicate with other departments.
  • For nosocomial infections and communicable diseases, you will develop, implement, and maintain a reporting system for the facility.
  • As part of the facility IP team, you will serve as a resource to hospital staff and leadership in infection control and prevention, assisting managers in developing, implementing, and updating infection control standards for their units.
  • Whenever dealing with hospital staff, leadership, co-workers, patients, visitors, and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab, or in Nursing, or in Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Attend a basic infection control training course after the first year of employment in this role.
  • If a Registered Nurse, licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia as a Registered Nurse or current multistate compact license.
  • If a Medical Technologist, licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia. 
  • Healthcare related experience.
  • Certified in infection control (CIC) preferred.
  • Acute care infection prevention experience preferred.
