Infant Assistant Teacher – Full-Time
Tiny Steps Learning Center – Union Ave Location, Paterson, NJ
Pay: $16–$19 per hour, based on experience, education, CDA, credentials, and performance
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday. Must be available for shifts that may end as late as 5:30 PM.

Tiny Steps Learning Center is hiring a caring, reliable, and experienced Infant Assistant Teacher to support our infant classroom.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with infants, understands the importance of nurturing care, and can support a safe, clean, calm, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.

The Infant Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily caregiving, classroom routines, infant development, family communication, and classroom organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with daily infant care, classroom routines, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Provide nurturing, attentive, and responsive care to infants throughout the day.
  • Support infants’ physical, social, emotional, sensory, and cognitive development.
  • Help implement lesson plans and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, handwashing, nap routines, transitions, and classroom cleanup.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Observe and support children’s developmental progress.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and team members.
  • Follow all Tiny Steps Learning Center policies, NJ childcare licensing regulations, and health and safety requirements.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood setting.
  • Strong understanding of infant care, classroom routines, and child development.
  • Reliable full-time availability, Monday through Friday.
  • Must be available for shifts that may end as late as 5:30 PM.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow Lead Teacher direction.
  • Strong communication, time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds as needed throughout the day.
  • Must be willing to complete required background checks and pre-employment clearances.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CDA certification or Associate Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in a licensed childcare center.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
