TAMKO Building Products LLC is seeking an Industrial Technician for the High Street facility in Joplin, Missouri.

The Industrial Technician performs routine preventive maintenance checks and repairs mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

  • Must work and operate with a Zero Incident Safety Culture (ZISC) mindset, which includes following and upholding plant safety policies.
  • Performs lubrication routes to the NORIA standard.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, maintains a clean, organized work area. Conduct 5S projects.
  • Performs Emergency Vent inspections and make necessary repairs.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance on Electrical equipment.
  • Installs new or modifies existing electrical equipment.
  • Observes electrical equipment in operation and performs required testing to locate and correct causes of trouble.
  • Utilizes existing equipment programming to troubleshoot electrical problems as needed.
  • Performs fire extinguisher checks in general areas.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance checks on rolling equipment in the shop (scissor lifts, forklifts, welders, etc).
  • Maintains order and cleanliness in the Barrel Storage Area.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance on all air compressors and associated equipment throughout the plant.
  • Conducts emergency light inspections and make repairs or replace units.
  • Conducts routine Preventative Maintenance on A/C filters, lighting, and dust collectors pulsars.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
  • Utilizes the TIMS system to perform various inspections including but not limited to the following: Environmental, Safety, General Maintenance, overhead crane, roof inspections, and safety showers.
  • Sets up and drill press, grinder, welder, and other tools to make and repair parts with supervision.
  • Works rotating shift schedule and overtime hours, as needed.

Job Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Team Player, Safety Minded, Works well in groups and alone.
  • Displays a general working knowledge of plant equipment.
  • Ability to complete major repairs and repair or replace defective parts with supervision.
  • Ability to rebuild equipment without assistance (cutter heads etc.).
  • Ability to find and correct mechanical problems during preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Displays the ability to follow directions and the initiative to learn.
  • Employee must be able to work rotating shifts, split shifts, and overtime.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dust and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
