There are two openings for this position; one for Summit Refrigeration in Menomonee Falls, WI , and the other for All-Temp Refrigeration in Cedar Rapids, IA .Role Description:The Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for the hands‑on engineering, design, and technical execution of industrial refrigeration and process utility systems. This role partners closely with sales, project management, field teams, and customers to analyze, design, and implement systems utilizing ammonia, CO, synthetic refrigerants, chilled water/glycol, and steam.Key Responsibilities:Support full design‑build engineering efforts for industrial refrigeration projects.Create, review, and issue engineering drawings, redline markups, and P&IDs.Perform engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances, heat gain and product load calculations, and equipment, piping, and valve sizing.Develop refrigeration system solutions that meet customer operational needs.Prepare project estimates and support the development of customer proposals.Maintain engineering quality and compliance by staying current with applicable codes and industry standards.Support projects from design through implementation in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:5+ years of industrial ammonia refrigeration engineering experiencePractical working knowledge of refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, fluid flow, and psychrometricsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong work ethicBasic proficiency with Microsoft OfficeWillingness to travel to customer facilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Professional Engineer (PE) licenseHands‑on operating or field experienceWork Environment & Physical Requirements:This position involves a combination of office and field work. The successful candidate must be able to perform essential job functions requiring the ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the workday; occasionally lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; and travel to customer facilities as needed.
