Overview/Summary:
On-Board Industrial Solutions is hiring a Industrial Process Chiller Technician to work at a large chemical manufacturing client site and join the site's Refrigeration Maintenance Group. You will primarily be responsible for performing troubleshooting and repairs on Flooded Evaporator Process Chillers and DX Units (Direct Expansion Units), as well as their corresponding cooling towers and pump operation/repairs. Given the high quantity of units and chillers, you must also be competent and experienced with a variety of compressor designs (i.e. screw, centrifugal, scroll, and reciprocating) but your primary competency and expertise must be in Screw Type Chillers. This role involves much more than just monitoring, recording readings/operational logs, and basic maintenance, this job requires physically tearing down and rebuilding some equipment. You also must be very capable to understand the complexities of overall system layouts and design as well as understanding and troubleshooting the electrical, pneumatic, DDC Controls, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). Many of these units are outside so you must be comfortable with frequent outside ground level and rooftop work. You must also be comfortable safely troubleshooting voltages of 460 and above and you will also be asked to work an on-call rotation schedule which includes at least 4 hours of overtime pay per call-in. Note: This job is non-union.
Primary Qualifications:
- At least 10+ years of Commercial HVAC or 7+ Years of Industrial (preferred) HVAC experience
- Screw Type Chiller Experience Required
- EPA 608 Universal Certification is required
- Experience welding/brazing and leak checking with an electronic leak detector, evacuating with the use of a micron gauge, and charging of the unit
- Experience with Gas fired burners, Direct and indirect fire heat exchangers
- Any of the following certifications are a big plus:
- NATE (North American Technician Excellence)
- NATE Commercial Refrigeration Service Certification; or
- RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society)
- RSES CM (Certificate Member) aka Level 4 Certificate; or
- RSES CMS (Certificate Member Specialist)
