Your day at a glance
You start with preventive rounds, move between containerized systems, and support lead technicians across mechanical and electrical tasks. This role is hands-on and execution-focused—not a licensed-trade position—and you’ll confidently follow direction from subject-matter experts to keep critical infrastructure running.
Where you’ll work
- Outdoor containerized systems: Power Distribution Container, IT Container, Chiller Station Container, and Diesel Generator Container
- Alabama’s peak cooling season (April–September) with high heat and humidity
- High-density electrical and mechanical areas under supervision
- Confined or restricted spaces within containers
Compensation
$33/hr – $40/hr, commensurate with experience.
Core responsibilities
- Run PM routes: inspect, document, and escalate equipment conditions
- Perform basic mechanical fixes (belts, bearings, filters, fittings)
- Tackle light plumbing: pipe connections, valve operations, and minor leak corrections
- Handle facility upkeep: doors, seals, enclosures, lighting, and drainage
- Manage consumables: filters, fluids, gaskets, and spare-part stock
- Assist with chilled-water system activities under lead direction
- Support pumps and motors: routine checks, fluid levels, and visible fault identification
- Follow written maintenance procedures and checklists with precision
- Apply basic HVAC know-how: change filters, check coils, verify airflow
- Assist licensed leads on electrical work as directed
- Practice safe work around energized equipment: proper PPE and LOTO support
- Use basic electrical familiarity: read panel labels, identify breakers, record readings
Experience requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on general maintenance or multicraft work in commercial, industrial, or facilities settings
- Preferred: exposure to multiple trade areas (e.g., mechanical and electrical, or HVAC support and general facilities)
