Can you turn complex production challenges into simple, repeatable solutions?

Dexter designs and manufactures industry-leading axles, suspensions, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components across multiple markets. We’re expanding our engineering team in Albion, IN—and we’re looking for an Industrial Manufacturing Engineer who will lead our Maintenance department, support a multi-plant campus, and deliver high-impact process and tool designs.

What you’ll tackle

  • Production support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and structured problem solving to keep lines running safely and efficiently.
  • Flow & layout: Build and maintain process flow charts and facility layouts that reduce waste and improve safety.
  • Design reviews: Join cross-functional sessions to establish standard/custom product designs and launch smoothly.
  • Manufacturing standards: Create and communicate standards for new products, initiatives, and efficiency improvements; align all departments.
  • Print approval: Review and approve engineering drawings/specifications for manufacturability, cost, tooling, and process structure.
  • Mechanical design ownership: Scope, design, and deliver fixtures, tooling, components, and assemblies end-to-end.
  • Strategic programs: Lead/participate in cycle time, safety, quality, and cost reduction initiatives; bring improvements to the floor.
  • Quality partnership: Support audits, assist with field service as required, and resolve manufacturing-related quality issues.
  • Continuous improvement: Engage in organized CI projects and self-direct daily improvements.
  • Capital projects: Plan and drive large-scale investments with cross-functional teams, delivering measurable results.

What you bring

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s in Engineering (or related) or equivalent education/experience; 3+ years in manufacturing with a strong CNC foundation.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor preferred); statistical tools (Minitab; Cpk/Ppk).
  • Communication: Lead across functions and levels; build sharp presentations; write operator instructions and quality alerts; turn complex data into clear decisions.
  • Problem solving: Define problems, collect data, validate facts, and communicate recommendations; act with urgency and meet deadlines; partner with operators/maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.
