The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inseption, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy industial equipment used in metals recycling operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, plant safety, and minimal downtime while supporting continuous production in a fast-paced, industrial environment. 

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on recycling equipment including shredders, conveyors, magnets, and sorting systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrial, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime
  • Conduct routine inspections and document maintenance activities
  • Preform welding, cutting, fabrication, and fitting as required (MIG, Stick, oxy-fuel, plasma)
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, and drive systems
  • Support installations, modification, and commissioning of new equipment
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Keep work areas clean and compliant with company and regulatory standards
  • Communicate equipment status and maintenance needs with supervisors and operations staff
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
  • 2+ years of idustrial maintenance experience (recycling, manufactruing, steel, mining, or heavy idustry preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of industrial equipment
  • Baisc electrical troubleshoothing experience (motors, controls, sensors)
  • Welding and fabrication skills preferred
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Abitlit to work independently and as part of a team

Physical & Work Enviroment Requirments

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and shifts as required
  • Comfortable working around heavy machinery, noise, dust and metal materials

 

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in metals recycling or scrap processing operations
  • PLC trouble shooting experience
  • Forklift, manlift, or crane operation experience
