POSITION DESCRIPTION

Stationary Equipment Technician

SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The Industrial Maintenance Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all stationary equipment within the airport facilities. This includes conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting issues, and performing both routine and emergency repairs on various equipment such as conveyor belts, escalators, and HVAC systems. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of these systems to support airport operations. You must also keep accurate records of maintenance activities and collaborate closely with the maintenance team to coordinate larger repair projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine inspections and maintenance on stationary equipment, including baggage handling systems, conveyor belts, HVAC systems, and other critical airport equipment

Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying and repairing mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues promptly

Collaborate with the Stationary Equipment Supervisor to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and safely, adhering to maintenance schedules and protocols

Utilize a variety of tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments to assess and repair equipment components and systems

Follow established safety procedures and protocols when working on equipment, including lockout/tagout procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, documenting repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks

Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or modifications to existing systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements

Participate in training programs and workshops to stay updated on equipment technologies and maintenance best practices

Collaborate with other team members to respond to equipment emergencies and minimize downtime, contributing to efficient airport operations

Support sustainability initiatives related to equipment operation and maintenance, including energy-efficient practices and waste reduction

Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and maintenance needs to the Stationary Equipment Supervisor for resolution

Perform routine lubrication and greasing of equipment components to ensure smooth operation

Maintain an organized and clean work area, including tool storage and equipment staging areas

Comply with all airport regulations, safety guidelines, and industry standards while carrying out equipment maintenance tasks

Participate in on-call schedules to respond to after-hours equipment issues and emergencies, ensuring continuous equipment availability

Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards

Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

18 years of age or older

Eligible to work in the United States

Minimum of 2 years experience in equipment maintenance and repair

Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Must have a valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)

Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices

Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means

Pass a background check and drug screen

Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)

Specific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
