Position Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Reports to

Maintenance Manager

Summary
The primary role of the Maintenance Mechanic is to provide competent & effective Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance support to the Plant and Facility operations in a SAFE manner.

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, adjusting and repairing of plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA and Local Government. The position will require a flexible schedule focusing on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of a maintenance mechanic include LOTO, GMP and food safety knowledge with an emphasis on maintaining processing systems, equipment and machinery:

  • Installed, and/or troubleshoot and repair Manufacturing equipment such as: assembly, conveyors, fillers, mixing. (Oven operations is a plus.)
  • Follows work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including the use of all PPE and other safety equipment in an industrial environment.
  • LOTO, must be able to work safely with electricity and have experience with 3 phase 480 VAC circuits.
  • Must be able to read and use blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, required tools, and various types of standard testing equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, detect and replace defective items, test and make final adjustments for high speed production equipment.
  • Must be able to maintain equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufactures specifications while following preventative maintenance work orders and scheduled PM’S.
  • Generate work orders, and parts request.
  • Be able to use some machine shop, and other related machines as required to repair parts or fabricate modifications.
  • Complete work orders and PMs and the documentation for that work
  • Ability to use mechanical and pneumatic processes: including cylinders and glue machines, date coders.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, and other appropriate equipment
  • Maintain current GMP, Safety, Food Safety, & technical knowledge by actively participating in training.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in an Industrial Manufacturing plant.
  • 5 years of experience working as an experience level maintenance mechanic.
  • Able to work other shifts if needed and be flexible to work overtime.
  • Ability to follow manufacturing specifications and schematics.
  • Electrical knowledge and packing machinery experience a plus.
  • Possess a full complement of the necessary hand and power tools to support an industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Experience with Industrial Electrical circuits including 480 vac down to 5vdc (PLC and VFD is a plus) sensors and motor control.
  • Stainless Steel welding is a plus
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize item and be self-motivated.

Education And/or Experience

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Complete working knowledge of the manufacturing process, typically resulting from a minimum of five years’ experience in related jobs.
